FDNY Engine 33 firefighters bike across the United States to say "Thank You"
In response to the support of people across the nation, these six men from Engine 33 / Ladder 9 in New York City set out to ride their bikes across the United States to express their thanks. We first met up with our new friends at their send-off rally in Jersey City, New Jersey. As we met up with the New Jersey State Police for our escort into the Holland Tunnel, they asked us if we would like to stop at the rally which was occurring as we arrived in town.
What an unexpected treat it was to have had the opportunity to be involved in welcoming them to our home state of California when they completed their journey. They were all very happy (albeit surprised) to see us again on the other side of the country.
